TheWriters House, in partnership with the University of Paris 8, has organised a conference dedicated entirely to the Algerian writer Assia Djebar, who has recently published in France, his latest book, La disparition de la langue française,(the disappearance of the French language) published by Albin Michel. Numerous poets, translators and researchers will be present at the event: Albert Memmi, Maria Nadotti, Michelle Perrot, Jacqueline Risset, Ernst Peter Ruhe, François Bon, Andrée Chédid, Abdelkebir Khatibi, Eberhard Gruber, Anne-Brigitte Kern, Pierre Samson, Wolfgang Asholt, Jeanne-Marie Clerc, Clarisse Zimra, Ingvar Rydberg, Manuel Serrat Crespo, Beate Thill, Lise Gauvin, Maïssa Bey, Michèle Vialet, Alison Rice, Hervé Sanson, Mireille Calle-Gruber. A dialogue between Assia Djebar and Andrée Chedid, followed by a lecture by Assia Djebar, is planned for the 27th from 16h15 to 18h30.
There will a round table discussion on the theme "Women of the Mediterranean” on the 29th November, attended by Clarisse Zimra, Assia Djebar, Anne Donadey, Alison Rice and Hervé Sanson. A film co-produced by the Writers House, Assia Djebar: Genèses, (Genesis) by Pierre Samson, will be shown during the Conference.
