The main objective of the Arab Fund for Arts & Culture is to stimulate and support artistic creativity and freedom of cultural expression in the Arab World. The funding body is based in Amman (Jordan) and was created in 2004 as an initiative of Al Mawred Al Thaqafy (Cairo) in collaboration with cultural organizations, individuals and major donors working in the region.

The Arab Fund for Arts & Culture seeks to deliver a sustainable funding mechanism for independent artists and cultural organizations active in the fields of filmmaking, performance arts, visual arts, literature, research, training and capacities building in the Arab region. The Arab Fund’s mission is also to facilitate cultural and artistic mobility in the South of the Mediterranean.

AFAC has just published its annual call for applications to support works that employ contemporary artistic sensibilities and address Arab common social issues. Support will also be granted towards research aimed at improving cultural policies, cultural management and the marketing of culture.

This call is open for individuals, NGO’s, cultural and educational organizations, governmental bodies and private companies working in the field culture and arts in the Arab World.
