Illustrarte 2016

Ilustra 250Illustrarte is a key appointment for artists and graphic designers working on illustrations for children’s books. The 2016 edition of this biennial world competition will be held at the Museu de Electricidade in Lisbon (Portugal), which already hosted the 2014 edition with 2,000 participants from 72 countries.

Artists interested in participating can send 3 original art works, all on the same theme, both published and unpublished. In case of published works, a copy of the book has to be included as well. The size of the drawings should not exceed 40 x 60 cm, not framed and without passe-partout. In case of digital works, good quality printouts are required. Deadline to register is September 30, 2015.

A jury composed of illustrators, designers, art directors and editors from Portugal as well as international will select the best illustrations to take part in the Illustrarte exhibition, scheduled in January 2016, and be featured in the exhibition’s catalogue. Only one artists will be awarded the Illustrarte prize 2016, amounting to 5,000 euro. The winner will be announced at the opening of the exhibition.
