Documentary Campus: The MENA

Documentary Campus and the Goethe-Institut Kairo are inviting submissions for the Documentary Campus MENA Programme 2013. Successful applicants will develop their documentary projects for the regional and international non-fiction market.

who will be trained?
Documentary filmmakers who are nationals and residents of Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Jordan, the Palestinian territories, Syria, Lebanon.

what does the training include?
Workshops to develop your story for the regional and/or international market including sessions on storytelling, budgeting, legal aspects of international coproductions, trailers, project presentation and a small pitching session.

when does the training take place?
1st Workshop: 22-27 April 2013 in Cairo
2nd Workshop: 2-7 July 2013 in Tunis
3rd Workshop: 28-29 October 2013 in Leipzig

Please note: The language of the workshops is ENGLISH!

what will be included in the grant?
Tuition fees, travel expenses (from place of residence to Cairo, Tunis and Leipzig resp.), accommodation, subsistence allowances for the workshop days for 15 selected participants (team members will have to cover their own expenses).

why should you be part of the training?
Because you will develop specific skills in project development & international coproduction; learn from key international professionals; exchange knowledge and network with like-minded colleagues and get the chance to win a trip to the Documentary Campus Leipzig Networking Days 25-27 October 2013 to pitch in front of up to 40 international commissioners.

We are looking for documentary filmmakers from the countries eligible (s.a.) who have experience in their domestic market but strive to work in the international field and are open to learn and to adapt their projects to the needs of their target audiences.

  • a short profile of the production company if

If you are amongst the finalists all materials have to be handed in in ENGLISH!

Projects should be well researched and developed to a stage where a comprehensive synopsis, outline, initial budget and schedule are available to ensure that they can benefit from the condensed workshop timetable.
