“Les Nuits de la Saoura”

The 1st Edition that took place in December 2003 was such a success that it encouraged the people of both associations to make this event durable. The aims of this partnership are cultural exchange, mutual respect, cultural, artistic and economic growth, and local development.
Among the activities:
-Residencies and artistic exchanges;
-Performances open to the public;
-The renovation of a traditional house: “The Hadj Benrahou artists’ residence”.
The “Rencontres à l’Echelle” , multidisciplinary festival forcusing on Algerian creativity are taking place in Marseilles until the 6th of December. The photographs taken by P. Bourdieu in the 1960’s are at the centre of this event.
Since the classification of their country for the World Cup in South Africa, young Algerians give a bored look when you talk to them about something other than football. Especially if it is a question related to the post-terrorism period.
Although the government is reluctant to open its doors or refuses to do so to the country’s largest demographic group, enabling them to contribute to the build up the country, passing the torch is a historic inevitability that should be someday considered.
