The Dox Box Residency for engaged documentary filmmakers | medculture, Dox Box Association, documentary filmmakers

If you are a documentary filmmaker working on a film that is socio-politically engaged and includes audio-visual footage originally produced by citizen journalists or media activists, you can apply to The Residency, the new program launched by the Dox Box Association.

Dox Box is a non-profit organization based in Berlin, Germany, out of the Dox Box International Film Festival in Syria, established in 2008. The association was created to support emerging and established documentary filmmakers in the Arab World while promoting the values of justice, dignity and human rights.

The Residency provides directors and editors, as well as editorial teams, the opportunity and resources to edit their films to completion in Berlin, including covering accommodation and costs of living in the vibrant capital city of Germany for a period ranging from 3 to 12 weeks. The duration is determined according to the length and nature of the material submitted, level of experience of the filmmakers, stage of editing, and the specific needs of the project.

It also provides a fully-equipped professional editing suite, technical and artistic support, supervision by a team of experts, and dramaturgic consultation by internationally-acclaimed editors. Detailed information concerning eligibility criteria and regulations are available on the Residency web page in English, while applications can be completed in Arabic, Tamazight, Kurdish, English or German.
