CROSSROADS is the Co-Production Forum organized by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Mediterranean, Balkan and Central European producers with a feature film script are given the chance to meet a new network of financers, co-producers and leading industry specialists. CROSSROADS introduces producers and directors to a variety of industry professionals from all over the world. The programme is varied and provides the opportunity to meet, formally and informally, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants.
The call is open to feature films that are either produced or co-produced within a Mediterranean, Balkan or Central European country or that contain elements in the story that are related to these regions.
The selected producers are supported in their efforts to promote their projects outside their countries and to network with potential partners. The joint involvement of countries from the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Central Europe encourages cooperation between countries, which, although separated geographically by the Mediterranean, are culturally united through the international language of cinema.
In its six previous editions, CROSSROADS included projects by filmmakers such as Amos Gitai, Yesim Ustaoglu, Constantine Giannaris, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Alexis Alexiou, Gabriel Achim, Michel Kammoun, Dover Kosashvili, Annemarie Jacir, Radu Jude, Zeki Demirkubuz, Eric Nazarian and Angelos Frantzis among others.
Among the completed Crossroads films are Ajami by Scandar Copti, Yaron Shani (Israel/Germany), Pandora’s Box by Yesim Ustaoglu, Le Policier by Nadav Lapid (Israel), Knifer by Yannis Economidis (Greece), The Future Lasts Forever by Özkan Alper (Turkey), Amnesty by Bujar Alimani (Albania/Greece/France), Tilva Rosh by Nikola Lezaic (Serbia), Black Field by Vardis Marinakis (Greece), Süt by Semih Kaplanoglu, Adalbert's Dream by Gabriel Achim (Romania), Beyond the Hill by Emin Alper (Turkey/Greece).
